Bridget Jones and My Mr. Darcy

Funny that a Bridget Jones book would spur my desire to get back to blogging. Not that I ever took a blog break mind you. I blog for a living for my job and thus my own blog took. I felt like I was online enough. Blogging enough..

Then I realized that I missed being here...sharing, posting, writing without it being about work related topics..so I'm back.

Kind of like Bridget who I adore!

I just finished the newest book.. Bridget Jones Mad about the Boy.

BOOK SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!

I had heard rumors about Helen Fielding (the talented author) having Mark Darcy die in the book. And I'll admit..I wasn't too thrilled to hear this. After all..I live and breathe for Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice and yes of course.. Mr. Darcy.

I read all the books written by authors carrying on in place of Jane..and their idea of what happens after we close the books..and our characters lives move on. I've watched the movies, BBC, (yes I even own two copies of Pride & Prejudice) Austenland..you name it..I'll watch it in the hopes of feeling like I did the very first time I watched Pride & Prejudice. Magical..

I wondered would I even like this new book...knowing something happened to Mark?? How would Bridget live without her man? Needless to say..she does live on..albeit it difficult for some time and years..but what made me want to write today was how beautifully the story ended. And how much it made me cry!!

Yes Bridget is at the weight she wants and Twitter followers aplenty...but in the end despite losing her beloved Mr. Darcy...she finds herself in love with a new man... Scott.

The book and the ending really hit home for me...after all I almost lost my "Mr. Darcy" to a major heart attack this past January. And yes..the idea of going on without him is and was completely unimaginable to me. When I read about Bridget's new love, who she felt in the end her Mr. Darcy would approve of for she and her children, was named Scott..I forgave Helen Fielding for the pain and suffering she put Bridget through and thanked her for naming her new love...my love's name..

I'm thankful every day I still have my Mr. Darcy... Scott! And I'm thankful my favorite Bridget (who I fancy myself a bit like too) has her Scott as well!
